A chemical peel is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin on the face, neck or hands. A chemical solution is applied to the skin that causes it to exfoliate and eventually peel off. The new, regenerated skin is usually smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.
What do chemical peels do for the skin?
Chemical peels use a chemical solution to remove the outer layer of skin and stimulate the growth of new skin cells. The regenerated skin looks refreshed. It is smoother, skin tone is more even and balanced, and less wrinkled. Your skin looks brighter and skincare products are absorbed better after treatment.
We offer a variety of chemical peels and peeling agents at various strengths and tailor them to your needs. The most commonly utilized peels – the superficial peels, are painless and have little to no downtime. We also offer more aggressive deep peels, which will require longer downtime.
The stronger the mixture, the deeper the skin layer that is affected, and the more impressive the results. Acids commonly used are glycolic acid (an alpha-hydroxy acid, or fruit acid), trichloroacetic acid (TCA), Jessners Solution, lactic acid, and salicylic acid (Beta Peel).
Most chemical peels are used in conjunction with skin care products to significantly boost the results for the concern presented: acne, lightening, pore reduction, rejuvenation. Usually 3 treatments are recommended 2-3 weeks apart and then maintenance treatments are recommended for optimal long term results, every 1-3 months.
