Microneedling Q & A

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that helps your skin become tighter. The development of features like wrinkles and scars is strongly linked to the lack of a protein called collagen within your skin. Collagen is very strong and keeps your skin firm, but you lose some of it with age.

During a microneedling treatment at Tchabo MedSpa, your esthetician uses an instrument with many very fine needles on the end. They use these needles to poke microchannels, or very small injuries, into your skin. Your skin responds to these injuries by healing them with renewed collagen production.

The newly healed skin is more youthful than before. You’ll see improvements in your skin’s texture and tone, as well as a notable tightening effect. The treatment takes about 30 minutes and usually doesn’t warrant any downtime.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

Many people consider microneedling to be preferable over certain other treatments with similar results because it doesn’t use any chemicals, injections, or laser lights. Instead, microneedling takes full advantage of the cell regeneration that happens naturally within your skin.

As your skin heals from microneedling, you’ll see a notable reduction in skin imperfections like:

  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Acne scars
  • Small scars from injuries
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sunspots
  • Large pores

The Tchabo MedSpa team can recommend professional skin care products like SkinCeuticals® to help you maintain great skin long after your treatment.

How should I prepare my skin for microneedling?

Microneedling is nonsurgical and minimally invasive, so you can drive yourself to Tchabo MedSpa and back home after your treatment. You should attend a brief consultation before committing to the treatment in order to discuss your skin concerns, your health, and the medications or products you use daily.

During your consultation, your esthetician may advise you to make a few changes during the time between your consultation and your treatment. They might tell you to:

  • Stop taking ibuprofen and other blood-thinning medications
  • Stop using medications for acne treatment
  • Avoid topical retinoids
  • Avoid harsh exfoliants

To simplify your appointment, your esthetician may also advise you to arrive on the day of your appointment without any makeup on your face.

Microneedling can transform your skin from the deep layers outward. To schedule a consultation, call Tchabo MedSpa or reserve an appointment online today.
